Mystical quality of paper construction

What does one say about an artist who puts together a sheaf of papers and then produces the most exquisite three –dimensional paper art possible? Paper artist Jen Stark’s work speaks for her and her sense of the aesthetic. But her work also says a lot more about her ability to see extraordinary capability in what one would have seen as just sheafs of colored construction paper.

Counter Cosmo
Jen’s art is colorful, geometric and intriguing. Her works take inspiration from nature. She also claims that her art reflects replication and bring out optical designs inspired from mandalas and sacred objects. Jen’s works definitely draw you to them and one can even term them as mystical with a slight degree of hypnotism thrown in.

Jen uses ordinary material such as paper, foam and wood to create sculpture and art forms. With an X-acto-knife for cutting the paper and her own sketched designs Jen transforms ordinary material into a vision of beauty. Seen below is a work she has named “Sunken Sediment” made out of hand cut paper and foam.

Jen believes that her works of art bring out the extraordinary in the ordinary. She wants to use her art as a medium to move one to greater levels of consciousness. Her work, according to her is meditative and attempts to discover the simplicity in beauty and the mystery in things.

She wants her works to help people discover new ideas and to view things in a different way. In fact one of her works (seen below) titled How to Become a Millionaire in 100 Days does just that. Jen says that when anyone hears the phrase How to Become a Millionaire, they would think of money. But she put together one million pieces of paper (all handcut) in her sculpture to bring in the message that one million parts of anything can make you a millionaire. A different concept… a unique woman … and an inspiring work. Jen Stark’s work is here to stay and is certain to inspire not only the aesthetic sense but the consciousness too.
